Mark Schwemer today announced his candidacy for Hardin County Auditor in the upcoming Republican primary election on May 5, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Hardin County and experienced community leader, Schwemer brings a proven record of service, leadership, and commitment to sound fiscal stewardship. As a dedicated attorney in private practice and a trusted advisor to local governments and other organizations, Mark has worked closely with communities across the county, helping to navigate complex legal and administrative challenges while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
The Office of the Auditor plays a vital role in overseeing county finances, maintaining accurate property records, and ensuring responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Schwemer says he is running to bring a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to the office—focused on efficiency, openness, and collaboration with township officials, municipalities, and county departments.

Mark Schwemer is a 1993 graduate of Kenton High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Trine (Tri-State) University in 1998 and a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University in 2001.
